The Underworld
Starts Next Door.

Every city has a second map.

You play it by walking around your actual city: your streets are the map, and the shops on them are fronts that change hands.

THE OPENING

For twenty years, one man ran everything east of the river. The laundromats, the restaurants, the barbershop where the old men play cards — every till on every corner quietly kicked up to him. Last night the law finally got him, and by sunrise the news was moving through the back rooms faster than it moved through the papers.

“Thirty-eight storefronts with nobody’s name on them. That hasn’t happened in twenty years — and it won’t last the month.”

The four families will carve it up block by block — and they’ll need people on the ground to do it. People with clean faces the police have never photographed. People like you.

NOTHING LOADS UNTIL YOU PRESS IT · PLAYBACK COMES FROM YOUTUBE
NO INVENTED CITY

The Map Is Your City.

Not a city like yours — your actual city, drawn live from GPS. The laundromat, the barbershop, the bakery that never runs out of bread: every one of them is a front somebody can own. Most people see errands. You see openings.

GRID OVERLAY · EASTSIDE▪ YOU ARE HERE
THE DOUBLE LIFE

The Sidewalk Is Yours. So Is the Back Office.

Mind the Mafia is played in two places at once. On your phone, out in the city, you're the Soldier — the one who walks into a laundromat and quietly changes who it answers to. In your browser, you're the Handler, watching the whole family's back from the war map. Neither half survives long without the other.

The Soldier: Work the Street
TAKING THE BLOCK
  1. Read the Block

Open the map. It's your street with the varnish off — who owns what, what's still unclaimed, which family has been getting sloppy.

  2. Case the Front

Walk close to any business and its file opens: security, cash flow, current owner. The espresso machine is real. So is the ledger under the till.

  3. Take the Room

Post your bodyguards and start the takeover. When the shooting stops, the deed changes hands. The CLOSED sign flips back to OPEN within the hour.

HOLDING THE BLOCK
  1. Collect

Every front you hold kicks up Dirty Cash. The longer you hold it, the better it pays — and the more attention it draws.

  2. Hold the Block

A rival crew walks into your territory. Or a contract goes out on you, and somewhere a hunter starts working toward your part of town. You have minutes, not hours.

To everyone at the bus stop, you're just another person staring at a phone.

WEB · BACKROOM DASHBOARD
The Handler: Back the Family
WORKING THE DESK
  1. Open the War Map

Log into The Backroom from any desktop. Every Soldier in the family live on the map, every rival move as it happens. When one of yours walks into trouble, you see it first.

  2. Wash the Money

Dirty Cash buys ammo and bandages, nothing that lasts. Work it through the laundering games and it comes out as Clean Influence — the money that builds things.

SPENDING THE INFLUENCE
  1. Make the Calls

When Soldiers get loud, Heat rises. You know which inspector golfs on Thursdays and which captain has a mortgage. Make it go away.

  2. Build the Family

Turn clean influence into permanent upgrades — better bodyguards, better gear, better odds the next time the street decides it's your turn.

Soldiers take the block. Handlers make sure they come home.

THE WORKING PARTS

Three ways a block changes hands.

Taking a front is one thing; keeping it is another. These are the systems that decide which way it goes — who you bring, who you pay, and how much of the map ends up wearing your color.

Bodyguard Combat

You don't pull the trigger — you bring people who do. Recruit bodyguards, level them up, choose their specialties, and hold your ground while they trade fire from cover. Guns only work standing still; keep walking and you're just a harder target.

The Contract Board

Somebody keeps leaning on your corner? Put a number on their head and let the city sort it out. Anyone can take the contract. Nobody has to know it was you.

The War for The Grid

As families take blocks, districts shade into their colors on the map. Watch your side of town slowly turn yours — and watch it turn back while you sleep, if you let it.

MOMENTS YOU'LL LIVE

Three moments from the second city.

A morning coffee, a desk at midnight, a trip to the store. Mind the Mafia lives in the moments when the everyday city and the hidden one turn out to be the same place.

THE STASH — IRON & FAVORS

Your Soldier just crossed 100 Heat and SWAT is spawning two streets over. The bribe screen is open. Your coffee's gone cold. Thirty seconds.

CHOOSE YOUR ALLEGIANCE

Four families run everything.

Every laundromat, dock, and corner office in the city ultimately answers to one of four dynasties. Your faction sets your colors, your bodyguards, and your edge — choose whose ledger your name goes in. Nothing here is signed in blood; you can change families right up until the doors open.

NO ALLEGIANCE ON FILE

Pick a family above and the rest of the file opens — your edge, your bodyguard, your colors. It rides along with your pre-registration, and you can change your mind any time before the doors open.

THE ORDER OF WORK

The city gets built one layer at a time.

Phase 01 is on the bench right now — the map, the streets, your real position on them. What follows is the order the rest goes on.

  1. BUILDING NOW

    PHASE 01The Grid Goes Live

Your real city rendered in noir: live GPS, real streets, territory ownership drawn right on the map. The overlay everyone else walks past.

    THE DAY IT LANDS

You open the map on your own street and find out it already belongs to somebody.

  2. PHASE 02Flip the Fronts

Real businesses become claimable fronts, with deeds and Dirty Cash behind them. The first coffee shops quietly change hands.

    THE DAY IT LANDS

The coffee shop you go to every morning turns out to have an owner, a ledger, and a price.

  3. PHASE 03The Soldier Fights

Cover-to-cover combat arrives. Bodyguards level up, buildings fight back, and takeovers stop being polite.

    THE DAY IT LANDS

Taking a front stops being a tap and starts being a decision about where to stand.

  4. PHASE 04The Backroom Opens

The web dashboard goes live and the game snaps together: Soldiers on the street, Handlers at the desk, one empire in sync.

    THE DAY IT LANDS

Somebody at a desk three miles away watches your Heat climb before you do.

No dates on any of that, and that’s deliberate — a date you miss is just a lie you told early. The order is the part we’ll stand behind, and Phase 01 is still on the bench. What a Founders’ Pass covers

MIND THEMAFIA
FOUNDING ROSTER · EARLY ACCESS

You know what the block is worth now.

That’s what reading this far costs you. Tomorrow the laundromat on your corner is still a laundromat — but you’ll clock the cash-only sign, the door behind the counter, the man out front who never goes in. The street didn’t change. You did.

Every name already on this list belongs to somebody who couldn’t walk past it either. Costs nothing to join them — and the blocks don’t wait on anybody to make up their mind.
