Delete Your Account

Last updated: 1 September 2026

You can delete your MafiaGo account at any time, and you do not have to give a reason. This page explains how to do it from inside the game, how to do it if you cannot get into the game, what happens after you ask, and the small number of things that are kept afterwards.

1. From inside the game

  • Open Settings from the bottom navigation.
  • Scroll to Privacy and choose Delete my account.
  • Read what will be deleted and what is kept, then confirm with your password (or by signing in again, if you use Google) and by typing your player name.

We ask you to sign in again because an unlocked phone is not proof of who you are, and this is the one action nobody can reverse for you afterwards. Typing your player name is the deliberate friction: it is the difference between meaning it and mis-tapping.

2. If you cannot get into the game

If you have uninstalled MafiaGo, lost your device, or cannot sign in, email contact@mindthemafia.com from the address on your account with the subject line Delete my account.

We may ask you for something only the account holder would know before we act — not to make it difficult, but because deleting the wrong account on someone else’s say-so is not a mistake that can be undone. We will action verified requests within 30 days, as the law requires.

3. What happens, and when

Immediately. Your session ends, push notifications stop, you disappear from other players’ maps, and the token that lets the game report your location in the background is revoked. None of this waits.

For the next 14 days. The account is held in a state where you can still change your mind. Sign in and choose Restore my account and everything comes back. You cannot play during this period — the only things the game will let you do are cancel the deletion and download a copy of your data.

After 14 days. The deletion runs and cannot be undone. Your identity, devices, location history, messages you sent, purchases, progress, friendships and family membership are removed or permanently disconnected from you.

4. What is kept, and why

A small number of things survive, because the law requires it or because they are not only about you. We would rather tell you now than have you discover it later.

  • Purchase records — kept without your name attached, for as long as tax and accounting law requires.
  • Messages you sent to other players — the text stays in their conversation, with your name removed, and is deleted on the ordinary 90-day schedule. The other side of a conversation is their record too, and taking your half out would leave them with holes.
  • Moderation reports about you — kept if someone reported you and we acted on it, so the decision remains reviewable.
  • A record that you asked — your account identifier and the dates. This is the proof that we did what you asked, and it is the minimum that can prove it: no name, no email, no location.

5. Getting a copy first

If you want your data before it goes, request it from Settings → Privacy → Download my data before you delete, or during the 14-day period — that is one of the few things the game still lets you do. You can also ask by emailing contact@mindthemafia.com.

6. Questions

Write to contact@mindthemafia.com. If you think we have handled your data badly, you can complain to the Portuguese data protection authority, the CNPD.

Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect and why.
